My Makeup Christmas List!!!

Wow, Christmas is soo close! I can't believe we are already almost into December! So I thought that since we are heading into Christmas season, I would do a list of all the products that are on my Christmas list this year, and that I find are the must haves! :) I will also post all the links to the websites so you can have a look as well as order online!

1. Makeup For Ever - 12 Flash Color Case
http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P219411&categoryId=C13402#moreInfo
This product is incredible! I have always seen makeup artists using it, and its been on my list for a while! I tried it out at Sephora, and I love how easily they work! The colors are so pigmented, but they spread so easily as well. They create beautiful looks, and you can use them for your cheeks, and lips as well! So universal!

2. Ben Nye - Lumiere Creme Color Palette
http://www.bennyemakeup.com/Preview_2011.htm
These colors are so bright. I've seen a lot of people using them in videos as well as on movie sets.

3. MAC - Eye shadows
http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/shaded/154/363/Eye-Shadow/index.tmpl
MAC eye shadows are a dream come true for me. I LOVE them! They are sooo pigmented and they go on so well! A dream come true for a makeup artist. They have such a range of colors as well which is great.

That is just some of what is on my list! I mostly have lots of brushes from MAC and Sephora, as well as just any foundations for different skin types. Mainly from MAC.
:)
Hope this helps those future makeup artists to be!
Until next time,
Hugs and kisses, Kat<3

Literally Can't Live Without...

So I'm going away for a weekend, just 2 nights! And I still have a huge bag of makeup and skin care packed to go. It barely even fits into my bag!

I'm going up north with my church, and you know, I was thinking about going au naturelle for the weekend, but then I decided, nah bring the makeup! Have fun and look beautiful as you down a huge zip line, or sit around a camp fire. hehe. So here we have it ladies and gents, a foot long bag stuffed full with all my makeup, brushes, and skin care.

I don't think I could actually go anywhere without having some time of makeup with me. Sounds bad, but its true! I feel like I have to be prepared for if somebody asks me to do their makeup, or see a color. You just never know! :)

Not to mention that its a 2 night and 3 day retreat, and I packed for like, 5 days!
I find it smarter to over pack, rather than to under pack. I love having a choice of what to wear. And if I just choose 2 outfits to bring with me. I'll probably end up not wanting to wear that the day of. So as much as it can be a pain at times, I just love packing a lot! I have like 4 shirts, 3 pairs of pants, 2 track pants, 3 sweaters, 2 scarves. That could last me a week! lol

Off I go to make sure I don't forget anything!..

Hugs and kisses, and have a fantabulous weekend!, Kat<3

Enhancing Your Natural Beauty

When do I ever NOT wear makeup? It's quite rare actually. I wake up an hour and a half before each class, and do full makeup (that is including lipstick!), as well as full hair. I usually do fancy up dos that you would usually find people sporting to a formal event. But I love fashion, and I love looking good.

Full makeup for school!

A beautiful purple smokey eye:)

Wherever I go, I am always wearing a full face of makeup. This advertises my talent and my style of makeup. The amount of compliments I get saying how great my makeup looks, and if I got it done professionally. That's how you start to get clientele! By wearing your talents, you are a walking advertisement for yourself. Every time you do somebody else's makeup, they are a walking advertisement! Everybody that compliments your makeup, and ask who did it, they will most likely contact you to do their makeup!

It's not that I don't feel beautiful without makeup on, because I most definatly do. But I love feeling beautiful with makeup on. It enhances your natural features, and there is nothing wrong with that! It's how us women are made. We love to look beautiful, and we love to be done up!

Sometimes it's not even that you have to go out with a full face of makeup on like I do! Sometimes its great to just wear some eye liner with mascara, and some bronzer or blush. Just to enhance the main features. But there is nothing more important than the inner beauty. If you feel beautiful on the outside, then it helps you feel happy inside! Having a kind, and caring heart is so important in anything that you do.

I hope that you guys read this, and realize that you don't need makeup to be beautiful. Having a beautiful reflects onto outer beauty.

Using What God Gave You

So my sister is in grade 12 this year, and asked me to do her makeup for her grad photos which are happening this Thursday. So we did a trial this past weekend and she loved the look!

When I was getting ready to do her makeup, I realized that I had forgotten all of my brushes at home. So of course, I decided to use my hands. The best tool that any artist could ever use. I got my sister to get me all her makeup that she had, and I went to work.

I did her whole look with just my fingers, and it looks amazing. I believe using your hands is the greatest tool you could ever use. Yeah for sure, brushes can be more precise and give you better definition. But using your finger tips, there is just something magical about creating a beautiful look just with your hands. You create a masterpiece right on your clients face.

I always do makeup on myself with my fingers. I find it super easy to do. Of course, it could take a little bit to get used to. But whenever you try something new, it will always take a little bit to get the hang of it.

First Blog.. My Inspiration

Wow, first blog. Where do I even begin??
My love for makeup started probably 6 years ago. It was my 13th birthday, and my mom had taken me out to get my makeup done professionally, and also to learn how to apply it myself. I booked an appointment at the Elizabeth Arden makeup counter inside the Bay. I remember sitting in the chair, and getting my makeup done. Seeing all the brushes that the consultant was using; I wanted them all. It all started then, sitting in that chair and just wanting to be able to use them.

I've always been artistic. I'm a dancer on the side, and still continue to take lessons. I've done oil painting, water painting and sketching. I have always loved working with my hands, and being able to do makeup, where you work with your hands is just fantastic.

You are in a business of making women feel beautiful, and I wouldn't want any other job. You get to hear incredible life changing stories, encourage women, and help them feel strong, confident, beautiful from inside and out. By enhancing your features can make all the difference in your day.

I started playing with any makeup that I could get my hands on. I asked for makeup for many birthdays and Christmas'. And as I got older, and realized that makeup is what I wanted to do in life, I started practicing, and trying out different looks. I have watched many tutorials just watching how other people apply makeup, and different styles. But when it comes down to it, I have taught myself everything I know.

My inspiration comes from many things.
1. Kandee Johnson. - She is absolutely gorgeous. She is such a beautiful person inside and out. She encourages me to be a better person and has most definatly helped me through many ups and downs in my life. I saw her at the Toronto IMATS (Internation Makeup Artist Trade Show) this year, and just seeing Kandee, made my day. She is so happy all the time, and her personality just shines.

2. Michelle Phan. - She is incredibly gorgeous and talented. Started off by doing simple makeup videos, and she has grown so much. She is incredibly sweet, kind and down to earth. I hope that I would have the privilege of meeting her one day.

3. Caryl Baker. - Caryl Baker for you who do not know is the owner of the Caryl Baker Visage salons found in Southern Ontario. She started her first salon many years ago, and since then has grown to over 30 salons. She has inspired me greatly in that she had a dream, and she went and did it, and now has grown to a fabulous company.

I hope that I will be able to inspire many people throughout my life and my career.
I plan on making youtube videos in the near future, so stayed tuned for those!

If you love something, go after it.
